Taco Tuesday!

If there is one dinner food that I have loved for decades, it’s tacos. Ground beef, cheese, sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes…should I go on? I could eat tacos until my gut burst. Seriously. As a kid my parents always used the taco seasoning packets, but given that Marcus and I have become pretty involved DIYers, packet seasonings are frowned upon in the Meier household. There are just too many preservatives and unnecessary ingredients and with such a simple recipe with so much flavor, it is totally worth making your own. Thankfully Marcus did some due diligence and found a perfect seasoning mix that we both absolutely love. A bit of spice and a ton of flavor, this easy-to-make collection of spices will make tacos a favorite staple recipe in your house too!


2015-09-15 18.07.32Spicy Ground Beef Taco Meat

  • 1.5# Lean Ground Beef
  • 2¬†tablespoons Taco Potion #19
  • 1 Cup Minced White Onion
  • 1 Minced Garlic Clove
  • 1/2 Cup Water
  • 1 tablespoon oil

In a large frying pan, heat the oil over med-high heat. Once hot add the onion and garlic. Saute until onion is translucent. Add beef and brown, stirring frequently to break up the large pieces. Once beef is about half-cooked drain the beef or spoon out the excess fat. Add water and spices and bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer until sauce thickens (5-10 minutes). Enjoy!
